Hydrology is a science that deals with the movement and storage of water, above and below the ground surface. All forms of water matter, from liquid water in rainfall and lakes to solid water in snow and glaciers, and water vapor in the atmosphere. One major challenge for hydrologists is to better understand and predict how human activities, from urban expansion to agriculture, deforestation, or climate change, affect the movement and storage of water.
